Interesting Minority Report review
The American Prospect has an interesting review of Minority Report (both story and movie) by James Parker. Contains major spoilers for both; I skipped the third paragraph of the review 'cause I haven't read the story yet. Some interesting insights and perspectives on the movie; a mixed review overall, with some harsher criticism of the weaker parts (especially the ending) than I'd have given, but reasonably fair nonetheless. Sample, after noting that most sf conceptions of the future haven't aged well:
Dick's future, though, was never too far off. It stayed close by and grimily vivid, like a skunk in the backyard. Its citizens still drove cars, lived in crummy apartments and listened to Linda Ronstadt. They had oddly boring names.
