More of God’s critters
My favorite Bill Staines songs are "All God's Critters (Got a Place in the Choir)" and (Nanci Griffith's version of) "Roseville Fair."
But sometimes my brain just starts making up nonsense that scans to a particular tune. The other morning, walking to the workshop house in the mist/drizzle of Rockaway Beach, this started going through my head:
Listen to the mockingbird a-singin' his song;
The platypus quacks as he sings along;
The wombat sings with the kangaroo,
And the right whale just goes moo.
Don't ask me, I just work here.
