Things I forgot to mention

First, I forgot to mention that there are prizes in the SH fund drive. People who donate money have a chance of getting one of a variety of cool prizes: books, magazines, art, chapbooks, posters, all sorts of cool stuff. And if you donate $50 or more, you get a thank-you gift: your choice of a mug or a T-shirt.

Second, and unrelatedly, I forgot to mention that on Saturday night I went to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I may post a fuller review at some future date. Overall: fine, not spectacular. Which is pretty much how I felt about the first one too. To some extent I feel obliged to see these; I'll probably keep watching 'em as they come out.

Third, and also unrelatedly, I forgot to note that the sad thing about winter solstice is that it's summer solstice in the southern hemisphere, so as I get happier that the days are growing longer, folks down thataway have to face days getting shorter. Very sad. But perhaps this'll also mean that come summer solstice up here, I'll be able to find some solace in the fact that southerners will be getting longer days. "And the world is always turning toward the morning."

Also unrelatedly: am sitting around at home this evening. When I'm not co-hosting a New Year's party, I generally prefer to have a quiet New Year's at home; 'round about midnight I'll remark "whee" to anyone who happens to be within earshot, and that'll be that. Getting some editing done, preparing for the onslaught of submissions that will be coming our way shortly (as we reopen to subs in a few minutes, going by East-coast US time). Day off tomorrow; maybe I'll finally buckle down and do some long-delayed dishes. And there you have it, the fabulously exciting life of an editor.

Happy 2003!

(That's 2003 exclamation point, not 2003 factorial.)
