Travel and visitors

This year is shaping up to be a busy one. Here's a rough version of the parts of my travel-and-visitors schedule that I know about:

  • Friends visiting for a memorial service, weekend of 12 February.
  • College friend (and post-college roommate) Jim M visiting, 18-28 February (or so).
  • Potlatch 14, San Francisco, 4-6 March.
  • Mary Anne visiting (maybe) and my housewarming/birthday party, weekend of 27 March.
  • Writing workshop, Santa Cruz area, 2-9 April. (I can't figure out whether it's bad form to talk about this publicly—nobody else seems to be doing so—so perhaps I'll leave it a little mysterious for now.)
  • WisCon 29, Madison, 27-30 May (or so).
  • Possibly stay with M in Chicago for a few days post-WisCon.
  • Swarthmore Alumni Weekend, Swarthmore, 3-5 June.
  • SWIL vacation, North Carolina, 5-12 June.
  • Visit M in Chicago, weekend of 23 July.
  • Interaction (WorldCon 2005), Glasgow, 4-8 August. Not sure I'll make this. Though if SH makes the Hugo ballot (and probably even if not), I'll do my best to be there.
  • Cascadia Con (NASFiC 2005), SeaTac airport hotel, 1-5 September. Not sure I'll make this either, but it'll be the 5th anniversary of SH's launch, so I'm guessing there'll be a party.

And no, I don't have enough vacation days for all that. I'm hoping they'll let me take a week or two of unpaid time off.

Somehow I don't think I'm going to make it to Boston this year. I'll probably make my usual vague noises about visiting folks in LA, but I'll probably fail once again to actually do so.
