Same-sex marriage roundup
Lots of heartwarming news and photos from around the state today:
- Brief reports from Bay Area counties from this morning.
- New York Times article with a couple of good photos.
- Brief LA Times blog entry about one of the weddings: "Would you prefer spouse, partner or husband?"
- Reuters slideshow, which includes several pix of protesters, but many more of happy couples.
- LA Times photos (I don't know anything about the couples here except Tyler and Olson):
- Robin Tyler and Diane Olson, one of the couples who participated in the lawsuit.
- Several great photos of Tori and Kate Kuykendall, including with baby daughter Zadie and carrying through a flower-bedecked arch. They also appeared at the top of the NY Times article I linked to up above.
- Amber Weiss and Sharon Papo in San Francisco.
- Jeff Van Hooser and Greg McCollum, plus their kids.
- Jaime Munoz and William Lundquist, kissing.
- State legislators can perform weddings too: "Didn't your mother tell you to marry a doctor?"
- County-by-county map.
- Something a little different: an article on teen attitudes. "Teenagers have mixed views on gays -- and they're OK with that."
- Brief CNN snippet about George Takei getting married--only they weirdly spelled his name "Takai" throughout the article, including the URL. I dropped them a note pointing out the typo, but they haven't fixed it yet. Aside re a pet peeve of mine: I see more and more evidence lately that news organizations aren't using proofreaders for content to be posted online.
- A month ago, Gov. Schwarzenegger commented on the ruling (see answer to last question, down at end of page). Among other things, he said: "I'm wishing everyone good luck with their marriages, and I hope that California's economy is booming because everyone is going to come here and get married. [...] I think all of this is great."
- Scalzi provides wedding advice (for people of any orientation or gender).
