ischemia

A recent story in Asimov's referred to a character having an "ischemic defect" in his heart.

MW11 says that "ischemia" is a "deficient supply of blood to a body part [...] due to obstruction of the inflow of arterial blood."

I remember “ischemic” from my previous life as a temp in the neurology department at a hospital. It was the “I” in TIA (which, before I became all Internet-y, stood for transient ischemic attack, not thanks in advance :).
