Standover

I learned a new word today! I seem to learn new terms whenever I read about Australian politics. I've previously come across words such as shirtfront (to belligerently confront, as when charging directly at someone so as to bump chests) and king hit (a knockout blow delivered from behind), and today I have added standover tactics, a form of coercion where the standover man looms ominously over the person in need of persuading. In Aussie criminal cant it's more than looming, but I choose to believe that a political standover man is threatening only political action.

Thanks,
-Ed.
