uqiyyah
According to Wikipedia:
“uqiyyah […] is the name for a historical unit of weight that varies between regions”
I’m posting this partly just because it’s a word I hadn’t encountered ’til recently, and partly because I find it interesting that the weight that it represented varied so widely—from about 25g to 320g.
Also: “The ouguiya, the currency of Mauritania, takes its name from the Hassaniya Arabic pronunciation of uqiyyah.”
