Safe
Hard to get information out of a disaster area; the phone lines are always clogged. High tech to the rescue: there are various Web sites where you can list friends and family after you've determined that they're safe (or they can list themselves, for that matter), and where others can go to look for information on people they haven't been able to reach.
This particular site, at the Berkeley Millennium Cluster, draws on information posted at other sites as well. I suspect that it's less useful now than it was a couple days ago, only because I suspect most of the information in it is already known to most of the people who need it; but I still think it's cool that these sites exists, and they may still be helping some people.
