There's an interesting piece on Slashdot about the likelihood of legislative reduction of freedoms in the US in the wake of last week's attacks.
Regardless of whether you share the writer's concern about online freedom and privacy, there's a very important point there: "Democracy is not a spectator sport." Those of you who are US citizens: your representatives in government are going to be making laws and decisions of various kinds in the near future, and if they don't hear from you, they won't know what you think.
If you have opinions that you want heard, make them known. Telephone calls are best, but if (like me) you're phone-shy, faxes or emails may also be effective, and are certainly better than nothing. Contact your Representative or Senator today. Don't put it off.
