Dept. of unfortunate phrasing
Once in a while I take a break to read the paper. This just in from the San Francisco Chronicle:
With the eruption of a national crisis in the Roman Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of San Francisco held a special primer for priests Wednesday on sexuality and child abuse.
Somehow I don't think that came out quite the way the paper intended it to.
In other news:
- San Francisco District Attorney Terence Hallinan notes that smoking marijuana is part of religious experience and should not be prosecuted.
- Ebay and PayPal both turn a profit (PayPal for the first time).
- Jon Carroll deconstructs, as he puts it, "Peggy Rathmann's revolutionary inquiry into gender, class and morality, 'Good Night, Gorilla.'" Who knew that a picture book could be so transgressive? (Recommended for grad students, especially Critical Theory grad students.)
Okay, that's about enough outta me.
