Curiosity
Heard on NPR just now:
Interviewer: You seem to have an almost insatiable curiosity. Where do you think that comes from?
Doris Lessing: I've wondered that myself.
At least, I think it was Doris Lessing. She also had a cute line about writing being good for "extremely neurotic people," but unfortunately the exact phrasing fled my brain two minutes after I heard it.
