Recordkeeping
We seem to be hitting another of the occasional periods when a bunch of authors forget, all around the same time, that they've submitted particular stories to us. We've had four resubmissions in the past week; the usual average is more like one every two weeks.
So, another reminder: track where you've sent your stories. I'm not very good about this either; I used to keep very careful track, but then I stopped submitting for a long time, and this past year—when I've submitted half a dozen stories to various places—I haven't been keeping as careful centralized records. It hasn't been a problem for me yet 'cause I've only sent each story to one market so far, but I know that I need to sit down and update my records before I send any of them out again. Time for another database, I guess.
