Sick
Had a tuna sandwich and a banana at a little food stand near the Exploratorium yesterday around lunchtime, and boy was it a mistake.
By midafternoon, I was feeling queasy and headachey; we left the Exploratorium and wandered around looking at birds on the little pond there for a while (I took a brief video clip of two coots fighting in the water), then headed back to Half Moon Bay. I declined the offer of dinner, because I was so exhausted I didn't think I'd be safe driving home if I stayed longer.
Came home, went to bed. Read, napped fitfully, suffered various forms of gastrointestinal distress. I think it's been years since last time I threw up; I can now report that it's still no fun.
I think I was feverish for much of the middle part of the night. Various body parts ached; I felt like a puzzle with missing pieces. I became convinced that it was of the utmost importance to determine whether it was true that some people had souls and others didn't. (I was pretty sure it had something to do with a coin-weighing puzzle I'd heard that morning on Car Talk. Given a person with a soul and a person without a soul, how can you tell which is which in a single weighing?) Also, a song I don't like ran through my head nonstop for several hours. I'm pretty sure there was some sleeping somewhere in there, a couple hours here and there; possibly even more total sleep than I've had in any one night since I moved in, as I haven't been sleeping much or well most of the time.
I'm feeling very slightly better this morning, but not a lot. Too restless to stay in bed at the moment, but I'm guessing that's where I'll end up fairly soon.
If I could remember the name of the place where we ate, I'd try to contact them and let them know they've got a problem with their food. I'm guessing it was the tuna, but the banana may not've been entirely ripe. But I would think that wouldn't still be bothering me eighteen hours later.
At any rate, it was lovely to see Nao & Stephen, and I wish I'd been up for a longer visit.
