Volume update
So far today, we've received 27 submissions, 3 more than our previous highest-volume day ever (24 subs, 31 January 2001). And there's still another five and a half hours left in the day. (The database uses US east-coast time.)

Wow. In contrast, my little webzine, Lone Star Stories, has received a grand total of 10 submissions for its entire period of existence.
Congratulations (and deepest sympathies).
It’ll come, Eric, trust me.
Jed, I’m happy to be one of the 27 folks trying to get you guys buried under e-slush again as quickly as possible. 🙂
Thanks for the moral support, Jay. I’m looking forward to putting up your story in the webzine come February 1st.
It’s interesting to see that Strange Horizons raised the pay rate to $.05 a word. I assume that the SFWA’s membership qualifications had something to do with that.
Quick update: final count for the day was 33 valid submissions, one and a half times as many as we got on 1/1/2002.
And nine more have come in so far this morning.
Eric– the pay increase was already in the works before the SFWA announcement, but the timing was definitely influenced by the announcement.
Susan,
Thanks for the information. I look forward to the day when Lone Star Stories can afford such rates. (I’ll have to either collect some serious ad revenue with the ‘zine or earn a lot of legal fees in my day job.)
