Two online games:

  • A new game: LOGAN's Mystery Of Time And Space Adventure, a.k.a. MOTAS. Find your way out of the room, and you'll get to another room. I haven't played beyond that, but I gather this one is way bigger than the Crimson Room game, which was along similar lines.
  • The ESP Game looks like a cute game in which you and another random person who happens to be logged in attempt to collaborate without direct communication, in attaching descriptive words to images. You score points for fast play and so on. Behind the scenes, though, the idea is to provide labels for all the images on the web. It's like a distributed-computing project that uses human brains as nodes. An amazingly cool idea. Be warned: when I go there using Safari, the browser tends to hang irretrievably every second or third game, which is probably good because otherwise I might play it all night.

    Whee! ESP Game is fun. It helps to be a relatively quick typer.

    A sad thing, though, is that the rush of it (and the 13-character limit) seems to favor the most simplistic concepts. Most of the black and white pictures had already acquired the keyword “black”, which can’t be good for classification. Depressingly, that seemed to be the first keyword for most pictures taken in Africa, too.
