Bush/Kerry slash

In the Sept. 13 issue of the New Yorker (also available online), there's a Paul Rudnick piece called "Running Mates," in which George W. Bush falls in love with John Kerry. The piece is short and mildly amusing, but mostly I mention it 'cause it may be the first time I've seen slash in the New Yorker. (Though now I have a vague idea I might have seen a similar piece there, about other famous figures, some time ago.)

    Heh—I had pointed to the latest-item-in-department URL, not realizing that the material appears online a week before the cover date of the print issue, and thus that a new item would appear at that URL today. Anyway, fixed now; thanks!
