Million Word March
I should probably wait a few months to mention this, but I suspect I'll forget if I do, so I'll note it now:
As of mid-October, 2005 (a month or so after the fifth anniversary of our launch), the Strange Horizons fiction department will have published one million words of fiction.
For comparison, Gardner's and Ellen/et al's Year's Best volumes generally contain about 250,000 words of fiction each, so by the end of this year, the fiction we've published would fill up about four Year's Best-sized volumes.
That's a lot of fiction!
That count does include reprints, though; if you don't count reprints, we won't hit a million words of original fiction 'til next March or so.
