Spammer + spammer

Two consecutive pieces of spam this morning, which would've been unremarkable except for their juxtaposition:

Hello,

I know its not reasonable to mail someone like this, but i dont have enough time to go and sign up on facebook or anything, basically im looking forward to hangout or have a relationship with a decent girl, maybe if you are single and interested email me back at this address

[address elided by Jed]

and im really very sorry if this emial bothers you, and if it does let me know knwo i will never sned you ant kind of email.

Thanks alot :))

(On a side note, I'm pleased at that second-to-last bit, because I hate it when people sned me ant kind of email. I would even go so far as to say ant kind is one of the worst kinds of email. Other than spam, I mean.)

(On another side note, the above spam actually is mildly notable for, as far as I can tell, being aimed at women rather than men. Or else the grammar is even worse than in most spam.)

That was followed by this:

my dearest

my name is vivian,a lovely girl, am average in height and fair in complexion,am a loving, romantic and caring angel. I see you mail today i deciede to contact you. i really want to have a good relationship with you. Beside i have a specil something i want to discusse with you Hope to hear from you soon. i will send my beautiful pictures to you and also tell you more about my self. I know age will not be a bearier to our relationship, what i need is just your love and caring. I will give you my best, bye for now.

They seem perfect for each other. I'm tempted to reply to each of them using the other's email address and hope they fall madly in love.

But instead I'll just mark them as spam and move on. Alas for love that will never be! I hope they find each other.

I have received some of those e-mails today. I am searching for more info because it looks to be a Joe’s job.

It certainly could be a Joe job, but given that I’ve received 40 copies of that first “I know its not reasonable” spam in the past couple days, addressed to at least three different addresses, I doubt it; seems like overkill if all they want to do is mess with the actual owner of the given email address.

I get dozens of variations of the second spam every week—it could be any number of different kinds of scams, from “mail-order brides” to extortion to plain old theft.

And since the only contact info in these emails is the email address they provide, it wouldn’t be a good scam if that address were someone else’s. So, although it’s certainly possible, I don’t think it’s very likely that this sort of email is a Joe job.

…Of course, it’s possible that your comment here is comment spam, in which case congratulations on tricking me.
