My brother’s 25 Things list

A month ago, my brother Jay posted his own 25 Things list, in two parts: part 1, part 2. Good stuff; sorry I neglected link to it sooner.

(And since some of the items are about our parents and our childhood, some of them shed light on my background as well.)

I especially like his item #10, which I shall quote here as an inducement to follow the links and read the rest of the list:

An accounting professor in college had some profound advice. He wrote on the board: "There is never any need to worry. If your problem has a solution, then don't worry—just implement the solution at the proper time. If your problem doesn't have a solution, then don't worry—there is nothing you can do." Easier said than done.

#10 reminds me of this quote from Hitchhiker’s:

BOOK: What to do if you find yourself stuck in a crack in the ground underneath a giant boulder you can’t move, with no hope of rescue. Consider how lucky you are that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn’t been good to you so far, which given your current circumstances seems more likely, consider how lucky you are that it won’t be troubling you much longer.
