Two eating-disorder essays

These are triggery, of course.

Last month, Marianne Kirby wrote a compelling piece at xoJane about not eating, sometimes for days at a time, and about people (including herself) thinking that this wasn't disordered eating, because she's fat. “It's Time to Admit It: I'm Totally Back in the Eating Disorder Game—But Not the One You Think.”

(It occurs to me that some of y'all may not have been previously exposed to some of the ideas that Kirby mentions in passing in that piece. In which case I recommend pausing to read Kate Harding's excellent fat-acceptance-101 page “Don't You Realize Fat Is Unhealthy?”)

And a couple days ago, Cole Kadzin wrote an interesting piece for the New York Times about her eating disorder, and about falling in love and learning to eat: “Chubby, Skinny, Accepting.”
