Nanotransistors

Seems Bell Labs has created a nanometer-scale organic transistor. Cool beans. The Slashdot thread on the subject has some useful analysis and commentary, and a couple of very funny responses. (If you're new to Slashdot, set your threshold to 3 when you get to that page, to get only the most interesting comments.) Sounds like this isn't quite as revolutionary as it first appeared (similar stuff's been done before), and it apparently has the problem that these transistors fall apart before too long. Always nice to get Slashdot's cynical take on things in addition to the high-tech boosterism of, say, Wired (which seems like it's always promising that the nanotech revolution is only a few months away). Anyway, I still think it's pretty cool.
