RTF submission system beta test

If you'd like to submit a story to Strange Horizons as an RTF file (rather than converting it to plain text), you now can.

Note, however, that this system is in beta test. It may not work properly, and it may be taken down at any time.

To use it, go to the RTF submission form. Read the important notes on that page before submitting.

If you run into problems, or have suggestions for improving the process, let me know.

You may tell others about this if you wish, but please be careful to remind them (a) that this is a beta, and (b) to read the important notes carefully before submitting.

Probably the most important of the important notes is that you really need to proofread your email address if you use this form. If you enter the wrong email address, we won't be able to contact you, and you'll sit around for two months wondering why we're being so slow. So please, be very careful to get your email address right.

That’s terrific news! Does this mean you will now accept stories in manuscript format, or should we continue to follow your formatting guidelines?

I don’t think I understand the question. Check out the instructions on the RTF submission form page and see if they answer your question.

If you’re asking whether you need to do any special formatting before submitting, the answer is no. Just save the file as RTF and upload it. Let me know if the instructions need to be clearer on that point.

Uhm, you sure about this? You really looking forward to 8-point Edwardian Script no-borders manuscripts with titles in hot pink?

    🙂

Ooooh, I see. The system formats the document properly. Good thinkin’.

That’s cool! (should have seen it before my latest attempt at formatting my story properly for SH, but I’ll know for next time). 😀
