Kith is back online

My domain was offline for somewhere around seven to twelve hours last night.

I have no idea what happened.

I gather that Pair, which hosts my domain, also isn't sure what happened, though possibly they are sure and just didn't tell me in detail.

A “your blog is down” email from a friend indicates kith.org had been offline since at least 8:30 p.m. California time last night. I notified Pair of the problem around 11 p.m. CA time; spent a while on the phone with them; was glad to see that it wasn't something I had done wrong; they said I didn't need to stay on the phone and they would let me know when it was fixed; I got email from them (at the Gmail address I had given them) saying it was fixed at around 6:30 this morning, though it may've taken another hour before the world's ISPs could get to it (due to caching the bad information). But other evidence suggests it was back online, at least in some places, by 5:30 a.m. my time.

My files and data appear to be intact, and the other domains I host appear to have stayed online the whole time.

I apologize to anyone who tried to reach me last night or this morning, and to friends who get their email through my domain. I don't think anything quite like this has happened before in the ten-plus years I've been using Pair to host stuff. (There've been other outages, but I think they were shorter, and more along the lines of “Our server crashed.”)

Judging by the steady stream of timestamps on my spam this morning, it looks like I may not have lost any email. But if you sent me (or any other kith.org address) something important in the past twelve hours, it may be worth re-sending.
