Last night, I finally worked out my plan for today: as a sort of birthdayish thing, Kam and I were going to head down to Santa Cruz, have brunch at Zachary's, then head up the coast to Scott Creek Beach and watch the kitesurfers.
A couple years ago, Jim and I happened across kitesurfers, and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I've been meaning to go back and watch them again ever since, but never quite seem to manage it. So I thought that would be a nice way to spend part of the afternoon, and figured we could stop by the redwoods or something on the way home.
But then it turned out there's a 30% chance of rain all through the Santa Cruz area today, and the waves are light, and apparently it's early in kitesurfing season anyway. And so I began to be dubious about the prospect of driving for a couple hours to watch something that might not actually happen, and the prospect of lazing around at home began to seem awfully appealing.
So Kam is bringing some food over and we'll hang out here for the day. I haven't left the house since Wednesday evening; part of me thinks it would be a good idea to be out and about. But another quiet day at home also sounds awfully nice. Especially since I was out of town last weekend and will be again next weekend.
