Tiptree Award announced
The James Tiptree Jr. Memorial Award for work published in 2003 has been awarded to Matt Ruff's Set This House in Order. For more about the book, and to see the short list ("calling attention to works that the judges found interesting, relevant to the award, and worthy of note"), go to the award page.
Reading for the 2004 award has already begun; you can recommend works at the Tiptree website, where you can also buy the excellent Tiptree Award anthology Flying Cups and Saucers. Somehow I missed (or forgot) seeing who the judges for 2004 are: Margaret McBride, Judith Clute, Alan DeNiro, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Cecilia Tan.
