Alexander Courage died last month. For those who don't know, he was a composer and arranger for TV and movies, best known for composing the theme music for Star Trek.
Sadly, he apparently wasn't treated very well by Roddenberry. Snopes has the story: Roddenberry wrote lyrics to the Trek theme music, with no intention of ever using those lyrics, in order to be able to claim half the royalties on the song.
The lyrics, as you might expect, aren't very good, but you can read them at the end of that Snopes article.
I imagine all this is well known in Trek fandom, but I hadn't heard about it 'til now so I figured some of y'all might not have heard about it either.
