Palin/Couric sketch on SNL
Most of you who care have presumably seen the segment of Katie Couric's interview with Sarah Palin in which Palin explains Russia's proximity to Alaska, a bit that's been roundly mocked.
By now, many of you have probably also seen Saturday Night Live's take on the interview, with Amy Poehler (who often plays Hillary Clinton on SNL) as Couric, interviewing Tina Fey doing a dead-on Palin impression. Still, I figured some of you might have missed it.
I'm not normally a big fan of mocking people. But I laughed out loud at this sketch, particularly this exchange (text below copied from a transcript, though you'll lose a lot of the humor if you read the whole transcript instead of watching the abovelinked clip):
POEHLER AS COURIC: "You went to the UN for the first time. How was that experience?"
FEY AS PALIN: "You know, it was just amazing. So many interesting people. Though I have to say, I was disheartened by how many of them were foreigners. I promise that when Senator McCain and I are elected, we're gonna get those jobs back in American hands."
I have a whole lot more to say about Palin, much of which will be coming along in another post shortly. But for now, I'm just posting this 'cause I thought the SNL piece was funny, albeit kinda mean-spirited.
