Super superconductor demo
At some point during college, Rob S added a catchphrase to our ever-growing collection of catchphrases and slogans: "SUPERCONDUCTORS MAKE MAG-LEV TRAINS FEASIBLE!"
Tonight, I was pretty grumpy over the latest round of technofailure. My cable modem at home got shut down, so I'm without Internet for the weekend. I came over to Kam's place to use her Internet—and her modem went out as well. Fortunately, powercycling hers seems to have fixed it.
But then I followed a link provided by Ben N to a video of a maglev toy train demo using liquid nitrogen and a small piece of superconducting ceramic, and it's so cool (pun unintentional) that it cheered me right up.
