The return of the website
My WordPress sites were hacked a couple of weeks ago, with a remarkably sophisticated hack. After some exploration of it, I decided to delete everything and then restore the sites manually.
As of today, I’m pleased and relieved that most of the sites that I host are back up.
Thanks much (as always) to Jeremy Tolbert of Clockpunk Studios, for letting me know there was a problem, analyzing the hack, discussing options with me, and rebuilding the sites.
The next couple of posts here will be entries that I would have posted during the past couple weeks if this blog had been working.
[Edited to add: I posted this on Oct. 23, but further hacks led to my having to reconstruct it on Nov. 1. But I’m putting an Oct. 23 date stamp on it.]
