Naming the site

I still haven’t come up with a name for my website, and I’m getting tired of the placeholder name “What is the name of this site?” So I’m setting the site name to “Lorem Ipsum.”

In the old days, Lorem Ipsum was the name of my blog. My site didn’t have a name as such, unless it was “The Kith,” which I was also never really satisfied with. And really, I mostly didn’t think of the blog as Lorem Ipsum; I thought of it as my blog, and Lorem Ipsum as a convenient joke label that I had assigned to the blog ’cause I needed a title. (I don’t know if I ever explicitly said: it was meant to be a self-deprecatory joke, suggesting that the content of the blog was filler/placeholder text.)

At any rate, in the new WordPress setup, I’m not sure it makes sense for the blog to have a different title from the rest of the site, and even if that makes sense conceptually, I’m not sure there’s a way to present it that would be clear. (I could rename the “Blog” tab to “Lorem Ipsum,” but that wouldn’t be clear to new visitors to the site.)

So for now, I’m putting the name Lorem Ipsum on the whole site. We’ll see whether that sticks.
