1984, January 10: Note from Jay to G&H
Another pictureless postcard—essentially an index card, but preprinted by the US Postal Service with 13¢ postage.
George and Helen’s address is written on the card in what I think is Helen’s handwriting; I wonder if she gave us some pre-addressed postcards to encourage us to write to them more often.
Here are our ages in early 1984:
Name | Age |
---|---|
Helen | nearly 76 |
George | 71 |
Peter | 44 |
Jed | 15 |
Jay | 13 |
Dear Grandma & Grandpa,
Our return trip went fine. Once again, thank-you very much for putting us up/putting up with us for those few days. Thank you, also, for the Christmas presents. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the clock, yet, but I’m sure I’ll find a good use.
Love, Joaquin, Peter, and Jed
Peter’s and my names were added in our respective handwritings; I guess we decided it was easier to co-sign Jay’s note than to write our own. :)
Notes
- “return trip”
- A later letter from me indicates that we drove back from Washington, and that I did some of the driving.
- “putting us up/putting up with us”
- Peter made the same joke in his next letter, and I’ve been making this joke for as long as I can remember.
