Here is the final piece of correspondence in this family-letters project: a postcard from Jay, with a picture of a frigate bird, postmarked Dec. 23, 1996.

Dear Grandma & Grandpa,

I am having a great time in the Galapagos - we have just finished a four day tour of the islands. Incredible wildlife everywhere! Off to Machu Picchu next week...

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Since yours is the only address up there I have memorized (and I forgot to bring my address book) you two are getting the only postcard. Please say hello to everyone for me.
