1976, March 19: Postcard from Jay and Jed to G&H

Coit Tower.
Coit Tower.

A postcard of Coit Tower, in San Francisco.

The postcard’s preprinted text says: “COIT TOWER. The panoramic view of San Fransicso sic as seen from this magnificent monument is enjoyed by all visitors taking the elevator trip to the top.” “B4423-Color Photo: Tom Tracy.” “Clemcards, Inc., address elided by Jed, Corte Madera, CA 94925” “MIKE ROBERTS, BERKELEY 94730”

Here’s what we wrote on the card:

Marcy’s handwriting Dear Grandpa,

Jay’s handwriting We WENT TO COiT

TOWERx ON YOUR

BiRTHDAY LOVE JOAQUIN

My handwriting WE get this CARD

FROM coit TOWER

LOVE Jed

The lowercase words in my part are in cursive. Not sure why I put some words in cursive and some in block capitals. I assume that I meant to write got instead of get. (I’m amused to see that at the time, my cursive lowercase g was quite similar-looking to my cursive uppercase J.)

I think that that was one of only two times I’ve ever been to Coit Tower; I think the second time was sometime in the ’90s. But not sure of any of that.
